The Junior League of Greensboro announces Glennon Doyle Melton as the Headline Speaker of the 7th Annual Women’s Leadership Summit to be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Grandover Resort. Glennon Doyle Melton is the author of the inspiring and hilarious New York Times bestselling memoir, Carry On, Warrior, and the #1 New York Times bestselling memoir Love Warrior, which was chosen as one of Oprah’s Book Club picks for 2016.
The Junior League of Greensboro believes that trained leaders make lasting community change, and our community is strengthened through developing the potential of women. Melton demonstrates the role that women can own as change agents. She is the creator and president of Together Rising, a non-profit organization that has revolutionized on-line giving through “Love Flash Mobs” and has connected countless families in need with millions of dollars in critical resources
As an author, philanthropist and activist, her hilarious and poignant observations have been read by millions, shared among friends, and have now inspired a social movement.

The daylong leadership and professional development conference for women will also feature regional recognized and respected women leaders. Guilford County Schools Superintendent, Sharon Contreras will be the plenary speaker, opening with an inspirational message about providing the opportunity and resources for a high-quality education to all children. FOX8 Morning Anchor Cindy Farmer will be leading a question and answer session with Glennon Doyle Melton where attendees can actively participate in asking the keynote speaker the questions that interest them most.
A few of the breakout speakers will include: Whitney Way Thore from My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Teresa Class & Angie Burleyson from Dale Carnegie, and Suzanne Plihcik from the Racial Equity Institute. Thore is a body-positive activist and self-love advocate who will be speaking about the “No Body Shame” campaign she founded. Teresa Class & Angie Burleyson with the Triad Region for Dale Carnegie Training of Central and Eastern North Carolina will be discussing “Becoming the Best Versions of Ourselves – Women Supporting Women”. Suzanne Plihcik is an Associate Director of the Racial Equity Institute and will be discussing the racial divide.
